Are You Ready for the Snow?
We will keep you updated as quickly as possible with our emergency text system. NECC Alerts is the text system used by the college to inform subscribers of weather closings and other urgent information. The system is open to the public and anyone can sign up with as many cell phone numbers or email addresses as you like.
Visit our Public Safety website at http://www.necc.mass.edu/student-services/health-safety/necc-alert/ to sign up. You can also login to your existing NECC Alerts account from this page if you would like to double check your contact information.
Educause Top 10 IT Issues
A recent article in Educause rated information security at the top of their top ten IT issues for 2017. Fortunately we are collectively doing a much better job recognizing phishing, vishing and other forms of attacks. We will continue to get timely information out to you all in addition to our annual information security training in MOAT.
It was very nice to see Educause point out Student Success and Completion and Data-Informed Decision Making as their second and third top issues respectively. ITS has been working at a fast pace to improve systems and match needs with the implementation of several new information systems this year and what’s at the top of this list? ZogoTech Analytics – which will provide greater reporting capabilities for all of us at the college.
It seems NECC is right on track with the thinking of Educause and educational leaders across the country when it comes to IT priorities.
IT Master Plan
The master plan is coming together nicely thanks to the efforts of those attending the monthly meetings throughout the fall semester. Our meetings will pick back up again as the subcommittee of the IT Committee meets next on February 9th. If you would like to get involved or just learn more please reach out to me anytime.
Thank you and I hope your semester is off to a great start!
Thank you,
Jeff
