What's wrong with this email?
1. This email came from a compromised internal NECC account. So while the email may look like it's from a genuine source, it is in fact a fraudulent phishing attempt.
2. Multiple grammatical errors, phishing emails are often riddled with both grammar and punctuation mistakes.
3. Reference to our "university" - NECC is a college, not a university, legitimate emails would know the difference, especially internal emails.
4. The fact that the email for an ITS service is coming from the Bookstore and not ITS is another clear indication this is not a legitimate email.
4. If you hover (place your mouse pointer, but don't click) over the "www.necc.mass.edu/owa/client-services/2-factor-login" text, you'll see that the link they want you to click on will be taking you to https://camparimmati.ml/files/. You will see that the domain ends in ".ml" - this is a website based out of Mali, a large majority of phishing attempts come from websites based outside of the US.
